Vikings series on The History Channel

Just when you thought The History Channel (officially named just “History” now) had gone to hell with shows like Ancient Aliens, Pawn Stars and American Pickers, the Vikings series arrives. While not history-nerd perfection, this work of historical fiction is believable and entertaining enough for both the nerdy and the layman alike. While some of the drama and detail stretches credibility, the series is relatively realistic compared to other Viking depictions in television and film.

The central character, Ragnar Lothbrok, is actually based on the legendary Norse hero of the same name.
